Leaves from Hickory Hill
June 22, 2011

Leaves from Hickory Hill was our first community project set during the 2010 fall retreat for the Bloomington Catholic Worker Community.  The layout of color was determined by tracing collected leaves on the substrate and then distributing the colored pieces of travertine, porcelain, and ceramic evenly across the canvas.  Hickory Hill is composed entirely of second hand goods and tile waste from construction projects, setting the stage for much of the work we will do into the future.  As other “trash artists,” we hope to create beautiful and functional objects while reducing the amount of waste that enters our landfills.
